Story Time STEAM in Action / en Acción

Story Time STEAM in Action / en Acción is inspired by Story Time STEM — while also integrating Art into learning about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. It is designed to help educators, librarians, and other community-based early learning providers better serve families of color and families who speak languages other than, or in addition to, English.

Every young child is a mathematician! Story Time STEAM In Action / En Acción helps early learners explore math and science concepts during reading time.

Story Time STEAM in Action / en Acción

We invited three librarians (see below) to create their own programming using the Story Time STEAM materials and techniques. Their examples offer librarians, educators, caregivers, and parents the opportunity to experience Story Time STEAM in Action / en Acción as both English and Spanish speakers.

Join Librarian Jamie as she illustrates some of the key concepts and strategies from Story Time STEAM. This video is presented in English.

Join Librarian Gabi as she illustrates some of the key concepts and strategies from Story Time STEAM. This video is presented in Spanish.

We are inviting Librarians to join the conversation about Story Time STEAM in Acton / en Acción. Join our Community of Practice and take the Self-Reflection Exercise.

Dr. Sabine Thomas, Director of Washington STEM’s Village STREAM Network of Central Puget Sound, invites librarians interested in hosting Story Time STEAM reading sessions to complete a Self-Reflection exercise, and join a new Community of Practice, facilitated by Rekha Kuver, librarian, youth services leader, and strategic consultant. The new Community of Practice will offer an opportunity to share experiences and tips on engaging with families of color and those speaking languages other than English. (Transcript)
