Susan Mullaney, President of Kaiser Permanente Washington, speaks on the importance of equality in STEM education and the positive impact it has on health care workforce development at the 2017 Washington STEM Summit at Microsoft.

“While it’s been enlightening and in many cases inspiring to learn about the current work underway, it has also been surprising to me to learn that the health care sector is not a fundamental part of the STEM discussion. In fact, the health care industry relies heavily on a workforce replete with STEM skills. At Kaiser Permanente, 49 percent of our 220,000 employees work in STEM identified roles.”
