Her cradle-to-career journey

What were some of your earlier experiences in math, and how do you think that impacted your journey in STEM?
My early experiences in math were confusing and challenging at first, but my curiosity pushed me to want to learn and understand the topic better. Growing up, I had teachers who each had their own way of teaching concepts, this made me realize that even if I didn’t understand something at first I could always learn and become better. Just like math, STEM is not always easy but with a lot of effort overcoming the barriers is easier. This definitely impacted my journey in STEM and helped grow my interest.

Who is the teacher or mentor who sparked your interest in STEM?
A teacher that helped me to continue to grow my interest in STEM is my nursing assistant-certified (NAC) instructor. She pushed me to grow out of my comfort zone. In her classroom we explored new ways to do things, practiced skills, and learned more about science.

What are you thinking about doing after high school?
Since I was very young, I have always been interested in the medical field. After high school, I would like to go to college to become a registered nurse. During my junior year of high school, I joined a nursing assistant program at my school. It provided me with a NAC license which will be helpful to me in the future as I will already know the basic skills and knowledge. I have also been doing college in the classroom classes.
