During her undergraduate education, 1999 Izmit Earthquake hit Turkey and Menzer Pehlivan knew that she had to help prevent the damage done in future disasters. After studying geotechnical earthquake engineering in Ankara, Turkey and Austin, Texas, she now helps architects and civil engineers evaluate their designs for earthquake preparedness.
